PDVD7 has two of the latest productions from SONScreen film festival. Cog explores the challenges of being stuck in a rut. Oh never mind is a humorous answer to the question “Does God ever answer prayer?” Next PDVD7 goes to Baltimore Maryland and finds Miracle Temple making a huge impact on the teenage obesity challenges in the community. After that we go to Las Vegas where Denny Krause had tremendous results with traditional evangelism in a contemporary church setting. “Our evangelist had never began an evangelistic series with a band opening for him. Initially he was very concerned and very apprehensive about it. But eventually he was delighted by the results.”

Volume 6, 2004

Pastors Digital Vitality Disk #6 is now shipping to the pastors of Seventh-day Adventist churches in North America. This new DVD is full of resources to help churches grow naturally. Here is just a sample.

A beta version of Digital Felts contains 330 photographs of Bible characters in a natural setting. Included is a catalog to help find just the right photo to drop into PowerPoint. The pictures can be sorted by the name of the Bible character, action, model name, and even Bible text reference. Also included are soft edge photos and watermarks.

Reality Ministry segments feature Pastor Fred Russell , host pastor of the Net 04, and Senior Pastor for the rapidly growing Miracle Temple church in Baltimore. Pastor Russell shares his thoughts on leadership, and on the power of seeking the Spirit in Wednesday night prayer meeting.

For the youth there is a documentary of a Seventh-day Adventist wake boarder who became a paraplegic while snowboarding. Wake Dreams shares the story of how a young man conquered huge obstacles to become a gifted school teacher.

There are also many short video clips designed to set the theme for a worship experience. Bills Birthday is a simple parable about the second coming of Jesus. Both sides of the Coin highlights the theme of contrasts between civil and religious. Cleaning out the Fridge is a great metaphor for change. Test Time develops the theme of trials. The Right Stuff looks to kiteboarding in the surf to set the theme of getting your gear and training together in order to accomplish great things. The Good Samaritan was commissioned by the Pastors DVD to tell the old story in a fresh style. It is also the very first High Definition Video to appear on the Pastors DVD. Unshattered sets the theme of healing from brokenness.

World mission is emphasized in the short video stories of Adventists in the Artic , In Masai Land, and The Church in Cuba . These short stories are appropriate for the worship service or Sabbath School time slot.

The Ride of Your Life is a short animation that puts you in the front seat of a roller coaster. The video is a great illustration of the adventure side of following Christ. Other short videos on the DVD include The difference a day makes, Storm Front Coming, Guided By The Light, Patriotic Music Video and Every Eye Shall See Him. All of these short videos can be played directly from the Pastors DVD in a church setting.

Bible Character Preaching is a seven part instructional on the art of looking like a Bible character to create powerful preaching. Watch as Dick Stenbakken mentors you through shopping for the right beard, affixing it, taking it off, choosing inexpensive props, and finding period wardrobes. This tutorial is sold elsewhere for $15 but comes free with PDVD#5.

Refresh tells the story of Pastor Kevin Wilfleys experience of throwing a huge party for the Takoma Washington community. This multi-day event provided interactive learning experiences for the children as well as need oriented evangelism for the adults.

Family Radio Spots are available on the PDVD#5 to air on your local radio station. Willie Oliver, director of Family Ministries of the North American Division, shares how these spots can provide a help for your community. Willie also introduces a brand new resource entitled From This Day Forward which is a seminar on family communication. All of the marketing materials for the seminar are included on the Pastors DVD. Reality Ministry is a new series of short interviews with pastors who have seen their churches grow naturally. Wayne Krause, church planter in Australia, has seen his church grow from a handful of core families to an attendance of over 200. What makes this church unique is that it is brand new kingdom growth, not just transfer growth—and it’s happened in an extremely secular environment. In the interview Wayne shares some of the ideas that have helped his church grow.

The event was made famous in the movie Dead Man Walking starring Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon. These features make great discussion starters or sermon introductions. Reflections of Praise is a professionally produced nature video with orchestrated sound track that is perfect to play during offertory, prelude, or postlude at church. Pastor's resource DVD offers leadership training events

Two lay training workshops are featured on the premiere edition of the Pastor's Digital Vitality Disk. Lethal Leadership is a PowerPoint presentation designed for a pastor to share with a church board or leadership team. First Impact is a PowerPoint training event training greeters.

Both training workshops come complete with a PowerPoint presentation and a script with presenter's notes and thumbnail pictures. In addition, First Impact contains handouts and overhead projector templates. Both seminars can be shown either from a computer or a set top DVD player.

Lethal Leadership gives tips on how good leadership can annihilate pesky challenges that cripple leadership teams. First Impact inspires greeters with ideas about how to make the first impression a positive experience for the variety of people who come to church. These leadership resources are just two of the thirty three resources on volume one of the Pastor's DVD.

The Digital Vitality Disc was mailed to all full-time pastors in late November. Full-time pastors who didn't receive this free gift should call 800-ACN-1119.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What kind of hardware do I need to use the Pastor's DVD?
To use the data resources you will need a computer with a DVD readable drive. To view the video you will only need a DVD set top player or a computer with a DVD readable drive. To project the video at church you will need a video projector and a DVD set top player.

2. What kind of software do I need to use the Pastor's DVD?
To play the DVD video on your computer you will need the DVD emulation program that came with your DVD drive. Currently Microsoft Media Player will not properly play DVDs. For the data resources you will need Adobe Acrobat which can be downloaded from www.adobe.com and PowerPoint viewer can be downloaded from www.microsoft.com. However if you wish to edit the documents it would be helpful to have the full version of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

3. How can I control the Pastor's DVD in a presentation at church?
The problem is that most set top DVD players use an infrared remote control. If you have the set top in the PA booth the infrared remote control might not go back that far. Here are a couple of solutions. First, have the set top close to the front so the infrared remote works. Of course that means that you will have to run a video signal from the set top to your projector. Second, you could play the DVD on a notebook computer with a DVD drive on it. Or Third, you could get a RF remote control for your set top player. These can be purchased at www.presentsolutions.biz

4. How can I give input as to what I think should go on the next Pastor's DVD?
Email your ideas to dave@acn.info and they will be given consideration. We are looking for practical things that are already working in congregations and might be of interest to more pastors.

5. How often will the Pastor's DVD be published?
We hope to publish it quarterly. The Pastor's DVD Volume 4 is scheduled for a November release.

To insure that every pastor receives a free Pastor's DVD, most conferences have agreed to help with the distribution. Pastors who haven't received their DVD by the end of April should contact the ministerial secretary of their conference.

9. Does ACN publish any other DVD resources?
Yes. We currently offer the Adventist Preaching series which is helpful for pastors in multi-church districts. We will also be publishing special interest DVD's such as the "From This Day Forward" marriage conference.
