Pastors DVD Frequently Asked Questions -- FAQ (11/13/02)

1. What kind of equipment do I need to use the Pastor's DVD?

For the DVD you need either a DVD set top player or a DVD reader in your computer. Volume One of the Pastor's DVD also comes with a CD Rom that contains all of the data as well as most of the compressed video clips that are on the DVD. Future Pastor's DVDs will have the data and the video on one hybrid DVD. So…you should consider getting a DVD reader drive on your next computer!

2. How can I control the Pastor's DVD in a presentation at church?

The problem is that most set top DVD players use an infrared remote control. If you have the set top in the PA booth the infrared remote control might not go back that far. Here are a couple of solutions. First, have the set top close to the front so the infrared remote works. Of course that means that you will have to run a video signal from the set top to your projector. Second, you could play the DVD on a notebook computer with a DVD drive on it. Or Third, you could get a RF remote control for your set top player. These can be purchased at www.presentsolutions.biz

3. How can I give input as to what I think should go on the next Pastor's DVD?

Email your ideas to dave@acn.info and they will be given consideration. We are looking for practical things that are already working in congregations and might be of interest to more pastors.

4. How often will the Pastor's DVD be published?

We hope to publish it quarterly.

5. Does ACN publish any other DVD resources?

Yes. We currently offer the Adventist Preaching series which is helpful for pastors in multi-church districts. We will also be publishing special interest DVD's such as the "From This Day Forward" marriage conference.

Adventist Worship Hour Reformatted for DVD

Adventist Communication Network is launching a new product that you ’ll appreciate like a best friend —- the Adventist Preaching resource DVD.

In 2003, the resource DVD will become a valuable tool for churches who share pastors or for some reason find themselves without a preacher on Sabbath. Why? Because in its new DVD format you will be able to choose from a menu of outstanding sermons whenever needed. As pastor or local elder, you’ll have the option of previewing sermons to find the most appropriate selection. The Adventist Preaching DVD can become a part of your media library that serves shutins and friends of the Adventist Church. Church members will want to build their own personal libraries by collecting each edition of Adventist Preaching.

Churches that have not yet purchased a satellite system, will be able to use this product because it’s not dependent on a live uplink. The DVD collections will be released quarterly and will include a sermon series and often a special feature.

Some may wonder, “Will ACN’s Adventist Worship Hour no longer come to the churches via satellite?” The answer is, congregations will now have the best of both technologies.

Beginning January 4, 2003, churches will continue to receive a full worship service via satellite on the first Sabbath of every month. The service may often feature the first sermon in a longer series that will also be available on DVD. DVDs are simple to use. Just select and play. An adequate DVD player can be purchased for about $100.00.
